10 minutes.

That's all the time it takes to make this fun and funky lamp. And the best part is, you probably have everything you need to make it already lying around your house. So what are you waiting for? Let's get started!

What You'll Need:

-An empty soda bottle
-A hot glue gun and glue sticks
-A knife (optional)
-Some scrap fabric or paper
-A small lamp shade (optional)
-A string of battery-operated LED lights (optional)
The first step is to clean out your soda bottle. If there's any label residue, give it a good scrub with soapy water. Once it's clean and dry, use your hot glue gun to attach the base of your mushroom to the top of the bottle. If you're using a fabric or paper mushroom, you'll want to Glue around the edges so that it's nice and secure.

If you're using a real mushroom,

just put a dollop of glue in the center of the top of the bottle and set the mushroom on top, pressing down firmly until the glue dries. Once your mushroom is attached, twist off the stem and set it aside. We'll use that later.

Step 2:

Now it's time to add some character to your lampshade. If you're using a store-bought lampshade, you can skip this step. But if you're making your own shade out of fabric or paper, now's the time to decorate it however you like. Use markers, paint, glitter, whatever you've got lying around! Really let your creative juices flow here.

Step 3:

Once your shade is decorated, set it aside for now. We'll come back to it in a minute. Now take your LED lights and stuff them into the bottle through the hole where the stem used to be. If they're not battery operated, now's also the time to plug them into an outlet. Once they're all set up inside the bottle, screw on the cap so none of them fall out.

Step 4:

Now take your decorated shade and put it on top of the bottle. If you're using a store bought shade, just screw it on like normal. But if you're using a homemade fabric or paper shade, Hot glue it onto the bottle around the circumference of the opening. Once your shade is in place, twist on the bulb (if necessary) and turn on your new Mushroom Lamp!

Conclusion:

Put away those store bought lamps and get creative! In just 10 minutes, you can make this fun and funky Mushroom Lamp using stuff you already have lying around your house. So what are you waiting for? Let's get started!
